Kidless on Kaui...(except for Colton)

We were in Kaui last week, on a "couples only" trip. We went with Rob's brothers Eric and Wade, their wives Kim and Deirdre, and Rob's sister Jen and her husband Russ. We left all of the kids home with grandparents, except for Eric's oldest, 9 year-old Colton. (Eric had promised to take him the next time he went to Hawaii.)
We rented 2 vacation rentals, that were conveniently across the street from each other, and 2 cars, and we had a blast!
Here come the pics...

One of our 1st and most frequent stops was to the "Shave Ice" truck. Yum! Yum!
Enjoying our "shave" ice. (We have no idea why there isn't a "d" on shave?)
They even put shaved coconut on top, if you want. It's delicious!

We ate at this place called The Fish Market, and when Rob went inside to order, this little dog jumped up on the stool next to me. Rob lost his seat. ( The dog knew who the animal lover of the group was.)
The boys rented surfboards for a couple days. Doesn't he look tough?
Eating papaya on the beach. Doesn't get much better than that...
We went to this beautiful little place called Kippu Falls, and jumped off a rope swing. It was scary and fun! Here's Rob showin' us how it's done!
Taking pics in front of some waterfalls that I don't remember the name of...
The girls made Creme Brulee French Toast one morning and the boys made Breakfast Burritos a different morning.
Out to dinner...at Kalypso, I think.
A group shot! I think Colton fell asleep at every dinner. We wore him out!
We kayaked on a little river that took us out to Hanalei Bay. Rob and I caught a little wave and capsized on the reef. Ouch! That was no fun. Eric took Kim & Colton out to the BIG waves, thinking he could ride them in...Instead they flipped, tail over nose, and everyone was a little panicked. But it made for a good story!
We tried to take pics while we kayaked...
Rob & I tool a tour of a chocolate farm. Hawaii is the only state where the chocolate plant grows. We tasted lots of local fruit and 14 kinds of chocolate on our tour. It was really interesting.
Did you know pineapple grows on a bush?
And that vanilla beans grow on a vine?
Here is a chocolate tree. Isn't it cute?
Do we look like pros, with our walking sticks?
I think boogie-boarding was my favorite activity. We caught some awesome waves!
I think I could sit here forever....
This is my favorite picture of all the couples.
(Eric & Kim, Russ & Jen, Deirdre & Wade, Karli & Rob)
Goofin' around...
Just the girls
And the boys!
Much better...
Aren't we cute?
Out to dinner at Hanalei Bay Cafe...We had the crabcakes. Mmmmmm!
Our last day at the beach. :(
Our last dinner at Duke's. (Eric & Kim)
Wade & Deirdre

Smoochy, smoochy...
Cheese! We got a little sunburn, ON THE LAST DAY!
We had such a great time! My Mom and Kade picked us up from the airport, and Kade just giggled in the car, the whole way home. My mom had put together 10 scrapbook pages of everything that she and Kade had done, while "Mom & Dad were in Hawaii". It looks like they had as much fun as we did! (With a little less sun!)

We Luv T.S.!!!!!!!!!

My Mom & I went to the Taylor Swift concert, last night. It was one of my favorites, for sure! If I had a teenage daughter, and she liked Taylor, I would take her to this concert. She talked a lot about being a teenager, and not being popular, and not having boys like you or treat you right, and how that made her the person she is today. And for every boy that treated her poorly, she wrote a song about them! How cute is that?! She is a great role model for young girls!

And she changed costumes 9 times!!! It was amazing!

Here we are, waiting for the show to start...
Kellie Pickler opened for her, and she was adorable. (She was a former American Idol contestant.) And I've never missed a season!
Any concert that starts out with cheerleaders is my kind of concert!!!

She was so cute! Here are a few more of my pics...

She even had it rain on stage!

She spent a lot of time walking thru the audience in between songs, hugging and taking photos w/ them, as her band played some solos. It was a great night!
Thanx Mom!
And thanks to Lorene for taking care of Kade! (I'm sure he had as much fun as we did!)

WHY?

Why does he insist on putting his leftover food into the little hole between the 2 trays of his highchair? It's so gross!

Cheeeeeeese!

My Prize Has Arrived!

I attended the Mesa Scrapbook Convention a couple weeks ago. I signed up for a digital photography class, where they were giving away 1 free photo printer. The class was really informative, especially for a beginner, but the best part was...

that the instructor drew my name for the prize! She said it would be shipped within a couple of weeks, and here it is! Yea for free prizes!

I'm too intimidated to take it out of the box quite yet! :)

Easter!!!

I am struggling to get these pictures uploaded to the blog. I have spent many hours trying to get this post done. I give up, and I'm just posting what I've got! In random order...

We spent Easter down in Yuma, and Kade and I stayed a few extra days, after Rob headed back to Tucson for work. It was beautiful weather. The boys even played some golf. My Mom, Kade, and I rode around in a cart, watching.

Isn't he cute?

Kade was fascinated by the Easter Bunny. He even received a box of jelly beans. (He had no idea what they were.)

He just kept staring at him.

I loved his little Easter shorts and linen shirt. He looked so handsome.

Memaw, Kade and the Easter Bunny. (We went over to the Country Club for the Easter egg hunt.)
As soon as we told Kade, "Go get the balls," he was picking up every egg he could...

And occasionally throwing them!
We had breakfast after the egg hunt. (Or was it lunch?)
My Mom bought Kade a little golf set. Too bad it's made for a righty, but he still hits the ball, just with the wrong side of the club. :)

We visited Grandpa on his farm. Kade loved checking out all of the animals.
He even helped Gary clean up, after bar-b-queuing. He also had a little dance party on the counter.

Let's Go Fly A Kite...

We went to a Japanese kite festival in Phoenix, on Saturday. They had a booth where Kade was able to make his own kite and color it. They had Koi ponds set up w/ all different sizes of Koi fish. There was Japanese food, karate demonstrations, and drum shows.
But Kade's favorite thing was to fly his kite! He loved it, and he looked like a pro! He would pull on his string to get more tension, hold his hands up to catch the wind, the whole time smiling. :) It was adorable!

The kite is up and soaring. It was such a beautiful and breezy day, too!

Look at him reigning it in...

He really didn't need much help from Mommy & Daddy.

you can't take the "boy" out of the boy!

Usually while I shower and get ready Kade likes to sit in his chair, in our bedroom, and watch Sesame Street.  Last week he changed things up a bit.  He came into our room, pointing at the TV, while getting into position to sit down.  When I turned the TV on, a tennis tournament was on live TV.  I went into the DVR and found Sesame Street, but Kade was not having it.  He started yelling and whining at the TV.  I thought maybe he wanted to watch a different show, so I found him something on the Disney channel.  He let me know that was not what he wanted, so I switched back to Sesame Street.  Then he started yelling, "a ball, a ball, a ball!"  That's when I realized he wanted to watch the tennis tournament!
I turned on live TV, he sat down in his chair, giggled and watched tennis.  I went back into the bathroom, laughing at him, to blow dry my hair.  After a few minutes Kade came running in the bathroom, talking up a storm (in Kade speak), and then ran back out.  I followed, to see what was up, and when he came running back in to the bedroom, he was carrying his little tennis racket.  He stood in front of the TV swinging and grunting.  I was laughing so hard!  He really is all boy, who loves any sport with a ball!
