CALIFORNIA FUN!

We went to California last week, and despite the endless rain, we had a great time visiting friends. Kade & I flew out Tuesday morning. And thanks to John & Annie, owning 4 cars, it was easy for Kade & I to see everyone. We went all over the bay area; Benicia, Diablo, Napa, San Ramon, Berkeley. Kade was quite the trooper. Rob flew out Friday night, to join in on the fun. Thanks everyone. We love you & miss you already!
Get ready for tons of pictures from our visit.

Karli Turns 31!

Karli turned 31 so we got together with the Eagar clan at our family favorite...Oreganos! Karli still is delicious even at the prime age of 31! Of course this is Robs comment. Cheese!!

Hello, From Sunny Arizona!

We walked over to the high school today, to throw the ball for the dog. Kade wore his "cool" shades.
He looks like he is waving, "Hello."

Guacamole Anyone?

Kade had his first solid food, pureed avacados. He loved it!

Don't mind the Spanish bib. It says, "I love my older brother." My Mom bought it for Rob, because it was in Spanish. She had no idea what it said! :)

YUMMY!

I Can Sit Up!

My Mom came over the weekend, and while she was here, we decided to have some pictures taken at JC Penny. In anticipation, Kade & I practiced sitting up every day last week. By picture day, he was a pro! I was surprised at how long he could hold himself up, and so was Daddy! (Rob was out of town all week, so he didn't know of the progress being made.)
And the Memaw had to bring Kade a "6 month" present, of course.

BRIAN HOLDENER, KNOWN FOR HIS VOLUNTEER EFFORTS
Published on February 14, 1997, Page B5
** Brian Holdener, a Sacramento contractor known for his fund-raising expertise and volunteer work for the American Red Cross, died at home Monday of a massive heart attack. He was 46.

As chairman of the local Red Cross chapter's board of directors, he helped lead a campaign that raised $1.1 million for the agency's new headquarters at Watt Avenue and Folsom Boulevard.

It's been 11 years, today.  I can't believe it.  He had a whole article written about him, and now it's been archived.  To look at the article now, you have to pay for it.
I still think about him every day.  Some days it's only for a second, some days I think about what it would be like to have him around.  What kind of a Grandpa would he be?  Is Kade going to have any of his personality traits?  What would he tease me about, now that I'm 30? I still miss him every day.  I guess it gets easier, but I think it just becomes different.  You learn how to live with a little bit of "sadness", or a feeling of a "missing piece".  It's hard to describe it, unless you've gone through it, I guess.  Sometimes it's hard to believe I won't have my Dad around for the rest of my life.   Hopefully he's up there watching over my family, and maybe smiling down on me.  I know he would have liked Rob, for sure.  They could have teased each other all day long.  And I'm pretty sure my Dad would have had some good practical jokes to play on him.  Just thinking about you, Dad.  Miss you!

Zoo Day

Today was Kade's 6 month well visit. Here are his measurements:
15 lbs. 6 oz. = 20th percentile
26 3/4 in. long = 50th percentile
head circumference = 70th percentile (that's what Rob was afraid of)

The Dr. said he was a healthy little boy!
After our appointment, we met up with some friends and went to the zoo.

Mia, Tessa, & Jen rode on the zoo carrousel.

Kade & I just watched.

Kade is 6 months old today!

  • He still sucks on his fingers.

  • He still wakes up 3 times a night, to see Mommy.

  • He laughs when the dog licks him.

  • He rolls onto his tummy, and looks around for awhile, before getting mad.

  • He sleeps in the car.

  • He likes to go shopping. (He takes it all in and then he sleeps.)

  • He has fuzzy hair, that stands up, on the top of his head.

  • He still has blue eyes.

  • He likes to eat rice cereal, but mostly he still likes Mommy Milk.

  • He loves to go outside.

  • He hates to smile for the camera.

  • He still has sweet baby breath.

  • He can put his toes in his mouth.

  • He can hold toys, and throw them when he's done.

  • He likes to have books read to him.

  • He likes it when Mommy sings. (Most people don't!)

  • He giggles when we tickle him, under his chin and on his sides.

We miss Daddy!

So Rob headed out to Orange County yesterday, for a week of training, and we miss him already. Kade has had a pretty rough morning. He wouldn't go down for his morning nap, but he was whining while I held him, and would start screaming if I put him down. I thought maybe he was sick, but he started calming down this afternoon.
I think he might be missing his morning time with Daddy. If Kade wakes up around 7, Rob will usually take him and play with him, until he has to leave for work. This allows me an extra hour or two of sleep! I love it! But with Rob in California, Kade gets Mommy time in the morning. And I guess that's not what he wants. Me neither! (If he'd just go back to sleep, neither one of us would have anything to complain about.)
He started falling asleep on my lap, around 2:00, finally. Let's hope it's a long nap, or else it's going to be a long week.
Come home soon, Daddy!

OUCH!

This is what happens when Daddy plays "spin the baby" on the carpet. Rug burn on the back of the head!
